21 Prologue

(O3O)/ – This is a really short chapter!!!

(-.-) – I know, and that’s why I’ll release a chapter of the Side Stories too.

(O-O) – I just need to finish it, since I don’t know how to schedule posts without breaking the site. XD

(-.-) – Please, don’t mind the title. This is just the beginning of the Second Arc.

(OwO) – Enjoy∼♥

(Edited) – By a wandering bird.

–What does the people believe in?

Tears fell in a piece of paper that looked like a letter.

–I just wanted to help people. I wanted to see the smiles on their faces.

This person was a graceful lady, and so pretty that even the spirits rejoiced.

But she suddenly stopped her hand that was writing the letter.

She kept staring at the swaying fire of the candlestick on her old desk.

Her room was simple.

There was a simple but frayed carpet on the floor, the bed was small and seemingly as old as the desk, only her chair was a bit better.

And on the desk’s left side was a simple cup of water.

The window was covered by a spirit cloth, it served as a windbreaker. Suffice to say, the spirit cloth was the only thing with a different color inside the room.

She then looked down at her own hand that was holding the feather.

Sometimes it was covered in ink, like now, and sometimes covered in flour because she was baking bread. Those were the hands of a hard worker.

Her hands, which were beautiful when her daughter was younger, were now slightly dry.

She then wiped her hand that was dirty with ink. Before long she took the feather again.

–Maybe I just wanted her to recognize me as her mother.

So now, the only way to heal this involuntary heartbreaking sorrow, was through this.

She wasn’t fit to be a High Priestess anymore.

–Anger, arrogance, greed. Of the things the spirits hate the most, I have done all of these.

So I–

“–Dedicate this body and soul to the fire spirits….

Loud noises then echoed from the room.

Again and again, until she couldn’t utter a word because of the pain.

Her devotion….

Her sacrifice….

She always used her own body as a catalyst. Even when she was younger.

But then, something strange happened with the water in the cup that was on her desk.

It was as if the water was sad while hearing her previous statement.

When she noticed the strange movement of the water, her eyes closed and small tears escaped her closed eyes.

And in a quiet voice, she….

“I’m sorry.”

Her hair too wasn’t that long anymore, it barely reached her shoulders.

–A powerful flame should be able to purify my soul.

So that we can finally be together again….

She then raised the speed of the hand holding the feather.

–I love you. My cute little brother. Please, forgive this foolish older sister who left you.

I beg, that someone, one day, will be the next lady of the lake instead of me and that she will be able to bring happiness to the people, as I once did.

Your name is – The Spirit of Truth.

I entrust this task to you.

After finishing the letter, she got up fast.

“…It’s now or never!”

Her voice was a bit husky, but cheerful.

“No more tears, Christine!”

And then, she grabbed the letter and exited the room without looking back.

On the desk that she left behind, the water that should have been there in the cup, was now gone. The flames of the candlestick burned brightly and fiercely.

The flames melted the candle and then they began to spread to the desk, burning the remaining paper and the ink, along with the entire room.

Weiz imperial calendar, year 1080, a night of full moon.

Tl/n: For a moment, I thought this old lady was Leo. No joke.

  1. Thank you Fenix! I would like to try helping you translate the next chapter but translating those long sentences in a paragraphs plus the lagging phone while translating, burned my brain’s processors. I could only managed a few paragraphs. ( @ _ @ ) gosh I think I should just translate the Power of Shadow as practice rather because it’s short. I probably should re-learn particle usage too. Once again for translating this series and make it readable.
